In this episode I talk about my very favorite AR, and my next build. Also if you have a favorite rifle (AR or AK) or are planning on building or buying one, tell me about it! I might talk about it on a future show.

This show was done in haste as I didn’t get a chance to record when I normally do, and I am having laptop trouble. Hope you enjoy it anyway!

"Vera" - My M4gery

"It is my very favorite gun." Jayne Cobb - Firefly

I swear all gunnies have a rifle named Vera. ‘Cept me. I wanted to be different, so mine’s named “Dakka.” Bonus points to anybody geeky enough to get the joke.

I really liked this episode. It was good to hear that I’m not the only one who swaps out gun parts like Legos. Last weekend I decided to take all the extra gun parts out of my safe and lock them up in my workbench. I had 3 SKS stocks, a shotgun barrel, and two boxes of optics and stuff.

Second – I do not have a gun named Vera. But that could be because I just discovered Firefly. Plus, if I have a Vera, then in the zombie apocalypse things could get awful confusing. Don’t want people grabbing the wrong gun.

Very interesting show. All of the AR talk makes me want to run out and buy one. The only rife that I own at this point is a Yugo SKS which I have done nothing to. Every once in a while my local gun club runs fun shoots with semi-auto rifles. They get a lot of AK and AR shooters. I’m thinking about making some changes to my SKS so that it would be a bit easier for me to participate in those events when they pop up.

The only problem I see with using the SKS for something like that is if its timed and you need reloads. Stripper clips are a pain in the ass [for me anyway] and I’ve never see detachable mags for the SKS that worked properly. That’s not to see they aren’t out there. You can get going with a basic AR for $600-800 and it’ll be a great rifle. Maybe not as “tacticool” as some others out there, but it’ll work, and AR rifles are a LOT of fun.
